Burning Man 2016 – Ulan

Below is some media I took this year.

This was, by far, my favorite year for art. In part this is because I was personally involved with almost a dozen pieces and got to know many of the artists over the last year. I have newfound appreciation for their hard work and dedication to their craft.

In my five years of going, I have never seen anything as amazing artistically as what Johnny and Max pulled off with The Lighthouse. I stand in awe of those guys and their entire crew (who built next to us at AmSteel).

Kevin Clark completely blew my mind with Medusa and his lions. So glad to know him. He is an inspiration.

So many more projects to mention: Icarus, Lord Snout, The Lost Tea Party, La Victrola, Numbskull…

I am most proud of Sheri’s work on Farfalle Gustose. Wow! Just wow!

None of this would have been possible without our entire crew and especially our camp of mutant vehicle supporters.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year such a raging success 🙂

One Story:

Early one morning Sheri and I went out for a random ride. We came across this wonderful small camp which had brought out a real player piano. Sheri jumped right on it and played a bunch of songs with her feet. The owner of the musical instrument was super de duper friendly and regaled us for stories and smiles.

I simply love interactions like these. They are what makes Burning Man so very special for me.
