Last night the Three Musketeers went to visit Buck Bailey at his restaurant True North Pizza. As we kind of expected, he took our designs and flipped them all about. The design is simpler, easier to build and stronger. And it even solves our main issue of how to get the Lobata to look like it is alive.
The body will now be oriented up 45°. I immediately interjected that Amphora (who we love, inspired all of us last year and lives two bays over from us at American Steel) has the same trajectory.
Charlie The Unicorn / Candy Mountain has a similar set-up. That vehicle inspired me the first year as well and their truck base is physically similar to ours.
So what did Buck come up with? First, the front of the Lobate will be up and the body will flow over the truck.
Second, the body will create a shade structure for the top floor. Sheri is concerned that much of the upper deck incorporate an uninstructed view of the stars.
Third, the sides along the truck will use small poles to push the body of the Lobate into position. These poles will attach to the body using chains and eyelets which will allow the skin to undulate in the wind.
We are quite excited by these new developments. Now we need Jules to draw this up so we can submit our application to the Hotties at Burning Man.
Life is full 🙂
